Threads Across the County

Fablevision Studios’ team was in Neilston on the 30th June, 2019, to film the Tapestry of Renfrewshire’s Threads Across the County initiative. The purpose of this countywide initiative is to bring the project to all corners of the old county of Renfrew and to increase public knowledge, interest and engagement.

Crofthead Mill - Neilston

Neilston was a perfect venue for this having over time played such a major role in the county’s once vast textile industry. The almost ghostly hulk of Crofthead Mill in the valley of the River Levern stands as stark reminder of this once world-leading industry.

There was a steady stream of visitors to The Bank, the headquarters of the Neilston Development Trust, many willing and able to make their mark on this colourful project in local culture and history.

If you would like more information of how you or your area can participate in the project, contact The Tapestry of Renfrewshire for further details or join it on Facebook, Twitter or email stitch@renfrewshiretapestry.org.uk

The organisers are particularly interested to hear from those who live in the following places: Bishopton, Bridge of Weir, Brookfield, Eaglesham, Gourock, Houston, Howwood, Inverkip, Kilbarchan, Kilmacolm, Langbank, Linwood, Lochwinnoch, Neilston, Quarriers Village, Uplawmoor and Weymss Bay.

Next on the Threads Across the County itinerary is Eaglesham. Watch this space for confirmation of the time, date and venue.
