Fablevision Studios is to make three short films for Just Trading Scotland (JTS) – in collaboration with Social Investment Scotland – on its 10 years in operation as a facilitator of fair trade. A five minute film will explore JTS’ ethos, its achievements in this time and what its future plans are. This will be accompanied by two 15 second shorts which will highlight two particular products that exemplify its work: fair trade and fine food.

JTS works with small farmers in various parts of the developing world (Ecuador, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Swaziland) to provide access to developed markets for high quality staples and manufactured food products. By supporting farmers in this way, JTS is helping them to help themselves. Providing a guaranteed market for products, enables them to plan, to invest and to provide much needed educational opportunities for their families and communities.

One particular promotional event staged by JTS – the 90kg Challenge – set schools, churches and other organisations the task of selling that figure. If they hit the target, the money raised would be enough to pay for a year’s secondary education for a rice farmer’s child.

To achieve further sales and exposure to these products, JTS has now made it possible for consumers to purchase them via its online shop. For details of retail outlets in your area, see the following link.
